Acne & Skin Treatment

Acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin allergy care starts with finding out what is actually going on. Dr. Sanjana Shivashankar examines your skin, hair or nails, explains the diagnosis, then treats it with prescription care or a procedure when needed.

What the skin can reveal

After a thorough consultation, prescription medications and creams are advised. Internal conditions such as liver disease, iron deficiency anaemia, hyper- and hypothyroidism, and deficiencies of protein, vitamins or iron can show on the skin and are sometimes associated with skin concerns.

Acne and pimple treatment

Acne treatment in Bangalore.

Personalised care for lasting results.

Pimples that keep returning, painful cysts along the jaw, back acne, breakouts before every period: each has a different driver. Pimple treatment in Bangalore often stops at over-the-counter creams; here it goes further, finding whether your acne is hormonal, cystic or inflammatory, then controlling it before it leaves scars.

Why choose us

  • Personalised solutions: No two patients have the same acne. Your plan is based on a proper skin examination, not on a standard regimen.

  • Medical-grade therapies: From prescription topicals and oral medication to advanced procedures like chemical peels and laser therapy.

  • Evidence-based results: Our methods focus on long-term outcomes: reducing inflammation, unclogging pores and minimising scarring.

  • Scarring and post-acne care: Scar reduction techniques are built into the plan to restore smooth, even-toned skin.

  • Whole-skin health: We address underlying causes such as hormonal imbalance, diet and lifestyle to prevent future breakouts.

Treatment options

After a thorough consultation, prescription medications and creams will be advised. Based on your individual condition and response, treatment options include:

  1. Prescription medications and creams.
  2. Medi-cleanup performed by trained personnel.
  3. Chemical peels, specific to your skin condition and severity, to improve active lesions, blemishes, superficial scars and textural irregularities.
  4. Oxybath therapy to keep skin less oily for longer.
  5. Lightening laser used in conjunction to improve post-acne pigmentation and blemishes.
  6. Laser resurfacing for acne pits and scars, to render silky smooth, even-textured skin.

Warts, skin tags and corns

Growth removal, single session.

Wart removal, skin tag removal and corn removal treatment.

Warts, skin tags and moles are removed with radiofrequency once a consultation confirms what they are. It is a minor procedure under local anaesthetic that seals small blood vessels as it cuts, so bleeding stays minimal and healing is quick.

What to expect

  1. The procedure is simple and safe, and because haemostasis occurs simultaneously the time required is minimal.
  2. Radiofrequency-assisted removal is completed in a single session.
  3. Once the growth is removed a raw lesion is left behind, which heals like any other burn injury.
  4. In about four to five days new, normal skin forms over the area without any trace of the previously existing growth.

Acne, eczema and skin infections, answered

Acne and pimple treatment in Bangalore

  • Not quite. A pimple is a single spot. Acne is the skin condition that keeps producing them, driven by blocked pores, oil, bacteria and inflammation, and often by hormones. One pimple before an event is not acne. New breakouts every few weeks usually is, and that is what a dermatologist treats.

  • Acne can be brought under control and kept there, and many people grow out of it, but there is no single permanent cure. Prescription creams, tablets when needed and peels clear active acne, and a simple maintenance routine keeps it away. Treating it early also prevents the scars that are much harder to fix later.

  • At Theory of Skin, Indiranagar, a skin consultation is ₹749. The rest depends on what the acne needs, whether prescription treatment alone or peels and laser as well, and anything beyond the consultation is quoted after the skin is examined. If marks or pits are the main worry, see acne scar treatment.

  • It can. The same yeast behind dandruff can trigger small itchy bumps along the hairline and forehead, sometimes called fungal acne, and oily scalp products block pores there too. Treating the scalp often settles those breakouts. Read the best dandruff treatment at home.

Recurring boils, and why they should not be ignored. Open on Instagram

Boils, fungal infections, eczema and psoriasis

  • Most boils are bacterial infections of a hair follicle and heal well with the right care. See a doctor if a boil is large, very painful, on the face, comes with fever or keeps coming back. Recurring boils usually have a cause behind them, such as bacteria carried in the nose, diabetes or friction, and that cause needs treating, not only the boil.

  • Warm compresses several times a day help it drain on its own. Do not squeeze or pierce it at home, because that can push the infection deeper. A boil that does not settle within a few days may need antibiotics or a small, sterile drainage at the clinic.

  • Yes. Ringworm and similar fungal infections spread through skin contact and shared towels and clothes. They are also often made worse by steroid creams bought over the counter, which change how the rash looks and help it spread. A dermatologist confirms the diagnosis before prescribing antifungal treatment.

  • No. Eczema is an itchy, inflamed problem with the skin barrier, often with dry skin and a personal or family history of allergy. Psoriasis is an immune condition that produces thicker, well-defined patches with silvery scale, commonly on the elbows, knees and scalp. They can look alike, which is why the diagnosis comes before treatment.

  • Psoriasis is not contagious. It is a long-term immune condition that can be controlled very well with creams, phototherapy or tablets, and flares become less frequent when triggers such as stress and infection are managed. Theory of Skin offers UVA and NBUVB phototherapy in Indiranagar.

For parents: why harsh antiseptic soaps make a child's rash worse. Open on Instagram

Itchy rashes in children

  • The common causes are eczema, heat rash, a reaction to a soap or fabric, insect bites, viral rashes and fungal infections. Eczema is the most common long-lasting one: dry, itchy patches in the skin folds, on the cheeks or behind the knees, often worse after bathing with a harsh soap.

  • A mild, fragrance-free, soap-free cleanser, used briefly in lukewarm water and followed by a moisturiser within a few minutes. Antiseptic liquids and strongly scented soaps strip the skin barrier and usually make eczema worse, which is the point the reel above makes.

  • If it is spreading, oozing, blistering, looks infected, keeps the child awake or has not improved after two weeks of gentle care. A rash that comes with fever, or one that does not fade when a glass is pressed against it, needs a doctor the same day.
